Anytime we try to research a topic, it has been already explored in Greece or Rome.

The ancient philosophers establish the fundaments and the base of every logos we develop today, including the terminology and the major rules. Poetry was referred as something divine and magical. Greek believed that it can take away fatigue or can put a spell on people. Tragedy is the next step the ancient writers went through . The state of catharsis is achieved by the means of “tragic emotions and pity”. Gorgias considered poetry as a speech of Rhythm and Rhyme. He was the one who implied some of the poetry rules in the prose, but he is not the author of the antithesis, at that time it was already popular. Gorgias spoke of reciprocal influence between poetry and rhetoric. He considered the influence of poetry especially the tragic poetry . Gorgias emphasized on the link between the poetry and rhetoric, referring to their aims and their means. Aristotle mentioned in his “Rhetoric” that Gorgias had been using too many compound words. Finally Plato provided with the exact definition of Rhetoric as acting through words.

Gorgias is the one to be held responsible for bringing together magic and speech. He brought the way for foundation of Rhetoric and to demonstrate the irrational power of speech. He speaks of magic as art. When the words are transformed from poetry into prose, they are no longer mysterious. He put the beginning and open a discussion about the art of rhetoric through the next centuries.
